Weight Loss Hope

It’s time to bare my soul and my weight. It may be taboo to ask a girl her weight, but I’m offering it up anyway. Being healthy does not always mean being at a specific weight and my ultimate goal is to be healthy. However, I know I’m not healthy at this weight. I hope that documenting this journey will help me stay on track. I don’t have a specific number on the scale I want to reach. Instead, I decided to choose a weight range. According to a BMI chart I found online, I should weigh between 104-135 pounds because I am 5’2″. However, I do know BMI isn’t the end all be all of being healthy. So I’m going to give myself a little wiggle room and shoot for weighing no more than 140.

I have a set end goal, but it will take a while to reach it. It might even take years. So to help, I need some smaller goals. My first goal will be to lose between 20 to 30 pounds by the new year. It won’t be easy, but it is possible.

I have two main things I plan to change to reach that goal. First, I will exercise, and second, I will eat healthier. It sounds so simple, eat right and exercise so you can be healthy. But for those who struggle with losing weight, this is not an easy task. Food is an addiction. I have found myself in a drive-through and suddenly realizing I am not remotely hungry. Yet I still buy and eat food.

Even though I plan to break my addiction, the first step is not cutting out junk food. My body still craves it and quitting cold turkey doesn’t work for me. I know, I’ve tried.  Instead, I have started exercising each day besides Sunday. I also stopped eating right before I go to bed. Every two weeks I will add to these steps. I don’t want to rush any part of this process because I want to change my life not just lose weight.

My goal weight is 104-140 pounds. This means I have to lose between 115-152 pounds. Right now I weigh 255.3 pounds, but hopefully not for long.
